BZA approves minutes, defers an application, welcomes new deputy director and adopts 2026 calendar

The Berkeley County Board of Zoning Appeals handled routine administrative business including approval of minutes, staffing announcements, scheduling and deferrals.
The board approved the minutes for the Sept. 16, 2025 meeting after a motion by Mister Shire and a second by Mister Jefferson. Chair noted that all board members were present except for Mister Mills and Mister Joy.
Chair introduced a new planning and zoning deputy director, Jim Resta (later referenced as Jim Reston by staff). Staff asked board members who have not completed required training to do so. When an applicant for a separate item (Jason Smith / George Rickards) was unable to attend, the board approved a motion to defer that application for 30 days to the November meeting.
Staff presented a proposed 2026 meeting calendar and explained a December 15 date was suggested to align BZA meetings with county land-use and county council schedules; Mister Smith moved to approve the calendar and the board adopted it by voice vote.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
