High school interns propose districtwide "student networking initiative"

Two Bloomfield Hills High School juniors serving as board interns, Sofia Tomina and Zena Jindali, presented a student networking initiative that would be tailored by age band across the district.
"Today we're excited to share our project idea, which is the student networking initiative," Sofia Tomina said. The plan proposes elementary activities focused on teamwork, listening and collaboration; middle school experiences that practice real‑world communication strategies and respectful interaction with adults; and high‑school workshops and mentorship programs connecting students with community leaders, alumni and local professionals.
The students said the advisory council would split into working groups by age band to design activities and that the council aims to finalize a detailed plan next month outlining specific activities and events for each grade level. Trustees praised the idea and encouraged the interns to return with the more detailed next-step plan.
