Plante Moran auditors presented the Bloomfield Hills Schools annual financial audit for the year ending June 30, 2025, and delivered an unmodified opinion, the highest assurance an auditor can give that statements are fairly presented. "As a result of our audit, we have rendered an unmodified opinion," auditor Jennifer Chambers told the board.
The auditors noted that the district received approximately $3.6 million in federal funding this year and that the federal programs audit testing (Special Education cluster) generated no findings or questioned costs; issuance of the federal programs audit is pending the federal Office of Management and Budget's compliance supplement. Jeb, the audit presenter, summarized general fund figures: total general fund revenue of roughly $110 million, general fund expenditures of about $108.7 million, and an ending fund balance near $24.5 million (a year‑over‑year increase of about $1.8 million).
Auditors highlighted a material recurring component of state-funded retirement pass-through (MPSERS) that increased restricted categorical funding for the year and remains a multi-year fiscal pressure. They also said the district received an unmodified opinion on the federal programs tested and that no internal control deficiencies were reported in the deliverable letter to the board.
At board business later in the meeting, a trustee moved to accept management's statements for the fiscal year as audited; the motion carried 6–0. The superintendent also reminded the public that a sinking‑fund replacement proposal (1.5 mills for 10 years) appears on the Nov. 4 ballot and encouraged voter engagement.
The auditors' full reports and the letter to the board will be issued per normal timelines (the federal programs audit will be issued after the federal supplement is published).
