Blue Valley honors teachers, staff and students at November board meeting

At the start of its Nov. 10 meeting the Blue Valley Board of Education honored several staff and student accomplishments across the district.
Highlights included an Excellence in Education award for Hannah Boselmann (Prairie Star Elementary); a Distinguished Service award for Melissa Belante (Hilltop Learning Center), who will move into a special education and Medicaid specialist role; district nominees for Kansas Teacher of the Year and Kansas Master Teacher programs; and nominees for the Kansas Horizon Award for exemplary first-year teachers.
Superintendent Dr. Chapman also reported that the Blue Valley Educational Foundation issued more than $400,000 in grants during a recent surprise distribution and celebrated multiple state athletic and arts championships for Blue Valley schools.
The board extended congratulations to honorees and invited the community to upcoming American Education Week events.
