Dr. Chapman said Blue Valley ranked in the top 1% of districts nationally in the 2026 Niche rankings, was named the top district in Kansas, and noted 51 National Merit semifinalists among district students. He also cited the district's official student count of 21,563 and previewed a planned website refresh.
Deputy Superintendent Katie Collier reviewed action steps tied to the board‑approved strategic plan: instructional alignment and resource selection for secondary math and K‑12 literacy implementation; exploration of a CAHPS‑style experience for middle schools (initial research and possible pilot); an early evaluation of growth in career‑ready pathway enrollment and plans to study transportation barriers to increase access; development of device screen‑time guidance with stakeholder listening sessions; and an advisory approach to instructional uses of artificial intelligence.
Collier emphasized that many initiatives are in early stages and that recommendations will return to the board after further staff and stakeholder work. Board members asked no substantive questions during the presentation and the district said it anticipates further updates and formal recommendations later this school year.
