Before the formal board session, District 49 held its 'Fantastic 49' recognition where staff honorees received plaques and sponsor gift cards. Katie Murray, a kindergarten teacher at Bennett Ranch Elementary, was recognized for inclusive classroom practices and work with students with autism; Sarah Luce, a math teacher at Vista Ridge High School, was honored for leading implementation of 'Wolf Time', a teacher-run intervention period.
Later in the meeting, David Nancarrow, director of communications, summarized fall communications metrics: a 90-day snapshot of social engagement on Facebook and Instagram, high-performing video content (including a surprise military homecoming at Meridian Ranch Elementary), the upcoming Discover D49 magazine, Veterans Day coverage, and season 4 of the district podcast. Nancarrow said a goal of communications is to increase community connection and enrollment interest.
Board members praised honorees and communications work and encouraged trustees and families to engage with district channels.
