Board greenlights RFQ for health insurance vendors; operations update covers safety gear and construction milestones

Director of Operations Mike Pitts (presenting) said the committee will survey employees and expects to bring a vendor recommendation to the board in February. He said there are “at least half a dozen” vendors that have expressed interest so far and that the RFQ will help the district create a short list based on qualifications, experience and approach. Pitts said the RFQ and procurement timeline aim to increase competition and identify the best option for district employees and students.
On safety, Pitts reported the district has placed 13 new stop‑the‑bleed kits in strategic locations (co‑located with AEDs), and CMH trained the nurses this week so they can train others. Pitts thanked SRO Scott and nurse Aaliyah for their work implementing initiatives tied to Senate Bill 68.
Pitts also gave project updates: interior finishes and canopy work on the Ag Building are progressing toward a late‑December ribbon cutting; BIS and BES structural work is active with substantial completion targeted in late February; ECLC slab work is complete and the pre‑engineered metal building is scheduled for delivery next week, with vertical construction to follow.
What happens next: the health‑insurance committee will gather employee feedback, distribute the RFQ, and return a vendor recommendation in February. Construction teams will continue toward the stated milestones, and operations will implement the safety training rollout districtwide.
