Boyle County honors EMS crew for life-saving resuscitation; discusses ambulance deliveries and body-camera grant

Clinical manager (Speaker 11) described a call earlier in the year where paramedic Cassie (Centers), EMT Jordan French and Captain Meeks (reported in remarks) found a patient who became unresponsive and lost a pulse. The crew initiated resuscitation, determined the patient was an ECMO candidate and arranged transfer to a hospital capable of ECMO; the patient was later discharged but required some assistance with activities of daily living. “That crew was…on the spot,” the clinical manager said in presenting the recognition.
Magistrates used the occasion to thank EMS personnel for their training and dedication. Committee updates noted that ambulance deliveries already scheduled were delayed but expected to arrive this week, contributing to a decision to transfer $400,000 from the general fund to EMS to fund upcoming ambulance payments.
Separately, Treasurer/finance staff presented a proposed budget amendment in a first reading that added $10,000 to sheriff’s body-camera funding after the county received notification of a KCOS safety grant award. The first reading was approved by the court.
Court members also discussed warming-center plans amid an incoming cold snap, saying the county courtroom or partner facilities (Gathering Place) would be made available during business hours when needed.
Next steps: finance will process the budget amendment through required readings, EMS will receive the incoming ambulances upon delivery and staff will coordinate warming-center availability with partners.
