Neighbors press Select Board to fix a parking pinch point on Stack Drive

Residents told the Bow Select Board on Oct. 14 that vehicles parked consistently near 14 Stack Drive are creating a hazardous pinch point for pedestrians and children.
Andrew Grillo of 21 Stack Drive described the parked cars as creating “a permanent funneling, of traffic in that area” that reduces sight lines on a steep turn and puts walkers and strollers at risk. He urged the board to instruct the Department of Public Works to install no‑parking signage and consider an ordinance amendment for the corner.
The board discussed options including placing signs 150 feet in each direction (DPW to set exact placement) and drafting a code amendment to prohibit parking at the pinch point. The motion to direct Town Manager David and DPW Director Tim to update the ordinance and install signage passed unanimously.
Another nearby resident, Jen Saint Cyr, raised related concerns about a business or state‑run residential facility moving into the neighborhood, reporting two to four vehicles for one current resident and expressing uncertainty about future parking management; the board said it has begun outreach to the company Benchmark and to DHHS contacts to clarify operations and parking plans.
No ordinance amendment was adopted at the meeting; the board’s vote directed staff to prepare draft language and return with proposed signage and ordinance language at the next meeting.
