Boyle County to advertise bid for EPS (styrofoam) densifier after grant award

The Boyle County Fiscal Court authorized staff Nov. 25 to advertise a bid for an EPS densifier (styrofoam densifier) after recycling director Angie Muncy said the county received a grant to purchase the equipment.
Muncy said she has discussed a deal with Rumpke of Kentucky, which may be able to supply a used machine immediately rather than waiting six to eight months for new equipment; she estimated the arrangement would save about $23,000 and allow the county to use grant funds for other needs. The densifier will compress EPS into compact logs or cubes for a market; staff explained the machine heats and compresses the material for easier handling.
Magistrates moved and approved a motion to advertise the bid as required by procurement rules. Muncy said she had already consulted the state on legalities and would proceed with the formal bid process.
