Boyle County proclaims Mind and Memory Care Awareness Week, highlights community programs

Judge Trillie L. Bottom read a proclamation on Oct. 28 declaring the week of Oct. 28–Nov. 4 as Mind and Memory Care Awareness Week in Boyle County. The proclamation, adopted unanimously by voice vote, cited the prevalence of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease locally, recognized October as dementia awareness month and November as Alzheimer’s awareness month, and encouraged residents to participate in programs and events.
Representatives from Parkview Assisted Living, CenterWell Home Health and McDowell Place of Danville described local services for people living with memory loss and their caregivers, including an arts‑based performance, Remember Balloons, scheduled at the Boyle County Performing Arts Center (BC PAC) on Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m., and monthly Memory Café gatherings that provide social support and respite for caregivers. Speakers emphasized outreach, caregiver support groups and the value of intergenerational programs in raising public awareness.
Court members thanked providers for their work and invited residents to attend the performance and community events listed by the presenters. The proclamation was adopted by motion and voice vote with no recorded opposition.
