The Caddo Parish School Board on Nov. 18 added and approved a resolution honoring Officer Mark Brock, who was killed in Vivian, Louisiana. Board leadership said they wanted the board to formally express condolences and recognize Brock’s service to the Vivian Police Department and as an assistant football coach for North Caddo schools.
Ms. Yates and President Green moved to add the resolution to the meeting agenda; Ms. Woods read the resolution aloud to the board, describing Brock as someone who “faithfully served our community” and who “poured his heart into the young people of our parish.” A motion to adopt the resolution was made and seconded; the board voted by voice to approve it and directed that the resolution be placed in the board’s permanent minutes.
The resolution, as read at the meeting, praised Brock’s work with students and called on the board to extend “heartfelt love, sympathy, and prayers to the Brock family, the Vivian Police Department, the North Caddo School community, and all who are grieving.” The board did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript beyond the voice vote that approved the measure.
The resolution will be kept in the district’s records and a copy will be sent to the officer’s family on behalf of the Caddo Parish School Board.
