Bryan ISD reports CTE enrollment gains and semiconductor pathway talks with Texas A&M

Laura King, director of career and technical education for Bryan ISD, updated the board on an expansion of CTE course offerings across high schools and middle schools and said districtwide CTE enrollment has increased "more than 800 seats" this year. She noted specific campus data from the presentation: a slide listed "185 students" enrolled in CTE at MC Harris, and other slide figures for Rudder and Bryan High were shown in the presentation materials.
King described strengthened partnerships with Blinn College and Texas A&M for dual-credit and credentialing opportunities and said she has begun discussions with the A&M Semiconductor Institute to create a defined pathway from Bryan ISD to Blinn to Texas A&M in semiconductors. King highlighted local initiatives such as the Brazos Valley Career Demo (a district-created contest intended to reduce travel costs and give more students competitive experience) and said entries doubled to more than 80 participants this year.
King said teachers are also bringing in outside funding: multiple educators received education-foundation grants and a Garver Gives grant to support classroom tools and materials. She said some CTE students are already earning industry-based certifications and that the district is using CTE expansion to strengthen local workforce pipelines.
