The Carroll County board approved payables totaling $274,428.72 and used committee reports to flag several pending budget tasks, including a budget amendment and nonprofit presentations.
"274428 dollars and 72 cents," said Unidentified Speaker 1 when presenting Item 2. After discussion about a specific line item that may be billed to another county, Speaker 1 moved to approve the payables; the motion was seconded and carried.
Board members reviewed a prior commitment to provide $25,000 per year to Merchant Park (approved two years ago) that had not been paid because the recipient had not submitted invoices. Courtney (named in discussion) told the board that recipients must request approved funds; Speaker 3 said a budget amendment will be prepared and a hearing set next week to capture missed prior-year payments.
Speakers also discussed draft budget worksheets and a tentative cost-of-living adjustment for payroll (numbers cited in the discussion ranged around a 2.8% COLA). Speaker 3 said an ambulance department roof will require prepayment for materials and that a capital amendment will be needed.
Finally, the board previewed presentations by four nonprofits (Family Crisis Center, Elderbridge, RSVP, Historical Society) at the next meeting and closed the session with a motion to adjourn.
