At its Nov. 18 meeting the Burrillville School Committee conducted routine business, approving warrants, personnel actions and several items of new business.
A committee member read the fiscal year 2025–26 school warrant No. 4 and announced a grand total expenditure of $3,970,580.83; the committee approved the warrant by voice vote. The committee also accepted the resignation of Kelsey Hopkins (principal assistant William L. Callahan), received and filed subsequent appointments as presented, and received a budget update for the current fiscal year.
Under new business the committee approved applications and revocations as presented and voted to adopt the district's 2025–26 virtual instructional day plan. District staff said the virtual plan would be used only in emergencies or if traditional snow days exceed typical thresholds, and that the plan requires RIDE approval before implementation. The committee also approved a girls' ice hockey overnight trip to Martha's Vineyard and authorized sending a letter to the town council to request a joint budget meeting for the FY27 school budget.
Committee members received a facilities update on the artificial turf field, with staff reporting that the top surface has been installed and seams are being finished; they said the field is expected to be ready for use in the spring season. Several committee members offered public thanks and holiday well wishes before adjourning.
