Board approves routine leases, records actions, appointments and accepts juvenile report
Summary
The commissioners approved the Priest River hangar lease and surplus of equipment at Sandpoint Airport, authorized destruction of certain noxious-weed records, reappointed and appointed members to the Priest Lake Groomer Advisory Board, and accepted the juvenile services annual report for submission to the state.
At the Nov. 4 meeting the board approved several departmental and administrative items in a single set of votes.
Airports: Director Dave Shook recommended and the board approved a three-year lease of Hangar Shelter No. 6 at Priest River Airport ($3,000 in 2026, $3,300 in 2027, $3,600 in 2028). The board also approved a resolution declaring certain Sandpoint Airport navigation equipment surplus after the FAA decommissioned localizer and other aids; the director said specialized buyers would be identified through an informal network of maintenance technicians.
Noxious Weeds: Chase Youngdahl, Noxious Weeds Director, asked for authorization to destroy herbicide application records from 2022 and state noxious weed cost-share records from 2019 consistent with Idaho retention schedules and program rules; the board approved the resolution and asked staff to ensure legal’s review appears in the packet.
Parks & Waterways: Staff recommended reappointment of five members and two new appointments to the Priest Lake Groomer Advisory Board; the board approved the resolutions and terms.
Justice Services: The commissioners accepted the annual juvenile justice statistics report (reporting period 10/01/2024–09/30/2025) for submission to the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections; the department noted a trend toward younger ages in referrals and one of the highest concerns was the increase in cases involving ages 11–13.
The meeting concluded with district commissioner updates and extended public comment before the board recessed to prepare for an executive session.
