Catawba County Schools staff presented a batch of facilities and maintenance items on Nov. 24 that the board approved by voice vote.
Dan Moore reviewed a contingency allowance summary and change directives to finalize the PK classroom renovation at Balls Creek Elementary, including a $61,013.89 contract decrease and a reported remaining contingency for the final project amount of $323,525.11. Moore asked whether items should be voted together and the board approved the requested actions.
Moore also presented annual scheduled service for district chillers ($44,800, billed quarterly) and a building automation service agreement for HVAC automation systems ($39,724). The board approved those agreements and two Trane upgrades for high schools (one for $32,840 and another for $50,148).
On the Maiden Middle HVAC project, Moore listed four change directives: $1,323.92 to remove a radiator and associated work, $1,926 for an existing corridor beam condition, a $938 increase for a 2-pole breaker supplied by the contractor DDI, and a credit for gym padding damage; the board approved the items.
Board members thanked staff for the updates; staff said walk-throughs and punch-list items are scheduled with expected project closeouts next month for some projects.
