At the Nov. 24 meeting the Bloomfield Hills Schools curriculum and instruction committee outlined how the district will use I‑Ready diagnostics to inform a new student‑growth plan and parts of the superintendent evaluation.

Staff said the district will administer I‑Ready in fall and winter, use the spring window alongside the state M‑STEP results to compare outcomes, and employ I‑Ready's diagnostic detail to target classroom interventions. A district presenter described I‑Ready as providing standard‑specific diagnostics that can "automatically group your students" for targeted instruction.

Trustees raised concerns about using a single year of data to set growth targets. Committee members said the immediate measurable for this year is the plan itself; the goal is to build reliable baselines and then set specific growth percentages in subsequent years. "The measurable this year is the plan itself," one trustee said.

Board members also discussed how I‑Ready complements state assessments. Staff noted that M‑STEP results often arrive too late for fall planning and that I‑Ready gives faster diagnostic feedback that can inform interventions and summer supports.

The conversation also tied into the board's upcoming superintendent evaluation. Trustees agreed more time and multiple data cycles will be needed before I‑Ready‑based growth targets are weighed as a percentage of the superintendent's annual evaluation.
