CCPS says some tutoring partnerships ended as post-COVID funding streams dried up; services continue in other forms

Charles County Public Schools Superintendent Maria Navarro told participants at the Nov. 13 town hall that while some tutoring partnerships were discontinued when temporary federal COVID-era funding ended, tutoring supports remain available through other funding streams.
"Some of those funding streams that came to public education'... have not continued because they were post COVID relief funds," Navarro said. She acknowledged that one vendor partner "went out of business," which contributed to a discontinuation of that particular contract.
Navarro said remaining tutoring services vary by grade level and by whether a school is Title I or a designated community school; some programs are supported from state blueprint funds and some from federal Title I funding. She urged families with concerns about tutoring availability to contact building leaders to learn about what programs are available at each school.
The district said it will continue to balance remaining discretionary funds to support special education and transportation needs that exceed allocated amounts, and it encouraged families to use the district website and BoardDocs to see posted audits and program information.
