The School Building Committee voted to approve submission of nine Facilities Equity Initiative (FEI) grant applications to the Rhode Island Department of Education totaling just over $4,900,000.
An OPM representative said the team worked with district ownership to rank nine priority projects for the FY '26 FEI round. Applications were submitted on Nov. 3 to meet the RIDE deadline. The projects include items carried as ad alternates—such as outdoor classroom furniture at the high school and some dual-language scope items—that could be procured if funded.
Committee member Sarah moved to approve the submissions, a colleague seconded, and the chair called for a voice vote; the motion carried unanimously in the recorded proceedings. The OPM noted RIDE is expected to award FEI funds in December and that the program is selective, with only a few districts likely to receive awards.
The committee did not attach matching requirements to the motion; OPM said their read of the application indicates no local match is required for this FEI round but that they would confirm specifics in the application language.
