Chase County approves $1,500 crime‑prevention grant for local 'Watch Dogs' chapter

Barnes described how the local chapter uses funds for volunteer recruitment, event food and supplies, and program materials such as shirts and sign-up calendars. He said roughly $300 a year goes toward printed materials and shirts (about $15 each), with additional small amounts for school lunches and event food.
Following the presentation, a commissioner moved to approve a request from the county's crime‑prevention fund for $1,500 to support the CCES Watch Dogs program. The motion was seconded and the chair called for the vote; an "Aye" was recorded and the motion was announced as carried.
The board did not record individual roll‑call votes in the public transcript. Commissioners and staff thanked Barnes for the presentation and noted the county would issue the check through the crime‑prevention fund; Barnes corrected the payee information on his form during the meeting and thanked the board.
