Board approves first reading of ASBA policy advisories, accepts donations and passes consent agenda

During its meeting the Casa Grande Union High School District governing board approved several routine but official actions.

Policy first reading: Speaker 11 moved to approve the first reading of ASBA policy advisory 917 through 958 (sections e and f) and policy advisory 959 as presented; Speaker 9 seconded. Mary, the board clerk, called the roll and the motion passed with the recorded affirmative votes. (The first reading was recorded; the item is at the first-reading stage and will return per board procedure for any additional readings or final action.)

Donations: The board accepted multiple community donations to support students and campus programs. Donations presented included $1,000 from Wayne Martin American Legion Post 91 to Vista Grande Junior ROTC; $1,000 from East Valley Marines to Casa Grande Union ROTC; $800 to Casa Grande Union Robotics; hygiene donations and $2,300 in gift cards for McKinney-Vento students (value noted in presentation), and multiple $1,000 Rotary Club gifts to campus groups. Speaker 10 moved to approve the donations as presented and Speaker 11 seconded; the motion passed on a recorded vote.

Consent agenda: The board approved the consent agenda items (a–g) in a single motion moved by Speaker 9 and seconded by Speaker 10; Mary called the vote and the motion carried.

All three items were approved on recorded votes with no public comment registered for the meeting. The board adjourned following the votes.
