Cayuga County legislators approved two workforce-related resolutions at their Nov. 13 meeting: authorization for the chair to sign the five‑year Workforce Innovation and Opportunity local plan and a budget transfer to fund seasonal youth salaries.
A county staff member described recent employer partnerships with CMI and Nucor Steel and said those ties helped secure two nominations to the workforce development board: Jessica Kolodzie (HR professional at CMI) and Nancy Sullivan (HR at Nucor Steel). The local‑plan resolution (PL1) was presented as the five‑year alignment document required by the state; members moved, seconded and passed the measure by voice vote.
The legislature then considered PL2, a transfer of funds from the contractual line to seasonal salaries to support paid work experiences for youth. Staff said the youth programs are grant‑funded and the transfer reimburses 100 percent of the seasonal salaries. Members moved, seconded and approved the transfer by voice vote.
Both actions were presented as procedural but described by staff as important to sustaining employer partnerships and meeting state requirements for workforce services. The legislature did not debate amendments to either resolution at the time of passage.
