Beaverton Education Foundation details programs, winter‑break campaign and new K‑3 math initiative

Lauren Garrett, executive director of the Beaverton Education Foundation, presented the foundation’s 2024‑25 impact report to the board on Oct. 14, outlining investments across the district.
Garrett said BEF provided 127,670 additional academic hours, supported 2,048 students with career‑connected learning experiences and funded 164 projects that reached students across all 54 district schools. BEF awarded 40 Kids Count grants totaling $155,000 and said those grants served more than 7,000 students.
BEF highlighted a summer reading program at Montclair Elementary in which none of the 50 participating students showed fall reading loss and 100% of kindergarten participants increased by one reading level. Garrett also described a lending library of STEAM tools that circulated to more than two dozen schools and a middle‑school S4 program that combines homework support with extracurricular incentives to combat chronic absenteeism.
Looking ahead, Garrett announced a city of Beaverton grant that will fund after‑school math programming at two elementary schools and a KLA Foundation award that will support a three‑year K‑3 math literacy expansion in Title I schools, including professional development and family engagement work.
Board members thanked BEF for prioritizing equity in grantmaking and asked staff to provide more disaggregated outcome data; BEF said it is collecting and will report additional assessment data from other schools in coming weeks.
