Chicago Board votes to recess, then unanimously approves motion to enter closed session
Summary
After extended public comment, the board voted to recess for 10 minutes and then moved, in a subsequent roll call, to convene a closed session under section 2(c)(1) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act; the executive-session motion passed with all voting members recorded as yes.
Following public participation on Nov. 10, the Chicago Board of Education moved to recess and then took a formal vote to convene a closed (executive) session.
During a brief procedural exchange, the presiding officer moved to call a recess. The board adopted the motion and recessed for 10 minutes.
After reconvening, Board member Boyle moved "motion number 25-1110-MO1 and the commencement of a closed session to consider matters permitted under section 2(c) of the Open Meetings Act, subsection 1 as specified in the motion." A second was recorded. The assistant board secretary conducted a roll call; the members recorded on the roll as voting aye or yes included Lozano, Smith, Lopez, Velez, Boyle, Rosenfeld, Rivas, Brown, Rio Sierra, Bannon, Vice President Bautista, Gutierrez, Biggs, Thodacora, Blaze, Zachor, Custer and Pope. The motion was adopted.
Later in the meeting a motion to adjourn was made and seconded; the presiding officer called the meeting adjourned.
