Cheektowaga Town Board adopts hotel bed tax and passes several resolutions; battery storage item tabled

The Cheektowaga Town Board approved several resolutions and routine items at the meeting, adopting a local law to impose a hotel occupancy (bed) tax and handling a set of consent-agenda and separately pulled items.
Local Law intro 6 of 2025 to impose an occupancy tax for hotels was adopted as Local Law 4 of 2025 and will take effect upon filing with the New York Secretary of State. The board also approved a transfer of $32,000 from contingency to a legal personnel line (Resolution 5750) and approved a PTAC unit replacement at the Cheektowaga Senior Center for $4,138.46 (Resolution 762).
Resolution 761 — a proposal for a private battery energy storage system (project 20253474 at 3695 Broadway on a Class 4 New York State Superfund site) — was tabled after discussion and a requested sponsor change. The board also authorized sealed bids for acceptance and disposal of solid waste for calendar years 2026–2030 (Resolution 781) and affirmed continued development of Emerald Garden Subdivision phase 5 with an amendment correcting the map description (Resolution 782).
Several consent-agenda items were approved by roll call and the board amended and carried separate items as noted. Where roll-call votes were recorded, they were read aloud during the meeting.
