The Cheektowaga Zoning Board of Appeals considered a series of routine residential and small‑scale commercial requests on Nov. 19, approving several variances, tabling a handful of applications because of publishing or notice errors, and imposing conditions in some approvals.
Driveways and aprons: The board granted a 4‑foot driveway expansion at 49 Kemp Avenue to ease vehicle access and avoid street parking citations for the homeowner. A separate application to legalize a previously expanded driveway at 29 Verne Lane was approved as requested. An application at 73 Angela Lane seeking approval for an expansion completed earlier this year to accommodate a family member’s mobility needs was granted on condition the applicant obtain written approval from the highway department for a curb cut; the board said the highway letter will become part of the record.
Tabled applications and reposting: Two applications were tabled because the notice published did not match the requests. The 274 Booth Road fence application (applicant seeks side and rear fence, not a front‑yard fence as published) must be reposted for the Dec. 17 meeting. A separate fence request at 2581 Genesee Street was also tabled for corrected publication and return in December.
Flagpole: The board approved a height variance for an 80‑foot flagpole at 777 Arrow Drive (Cybertron LLC) in a commercial/industrial area after the applicant confirmed the location is outside airport height restrictions.
Other driveway items: A request by Thomas Smith (676 South Booth) for an 11‑foot widening and other driveway relief was tabled while the applicant verifies survey details and the exact width. The board said applicants should coordinate with the highway superintendent where curb work is implicated.
The board told applicants to expect written decisions from the building department in 7–14 days.
