Rustic Hills road is private beyond early subdivision; Pleasantview plans 'baby box' and road speed changes reported

County counsel reviewed a 1977 subdivision plat and told commissioners Rustic Hills appears on that older plat only for the initial four lots; beyond that, counsel said the road was never offered to the county and remains private. "It is a private road beyond the 1, 2, 3, 4 first 4 lots," counsel said, noting that for the county to accept farther sections as county road the owners would have to offer it and the road would have to be built to county standards.
Pleasantview Fire Department representatives announced they are moving forward with installing a "baby box," described as a safe place for a parent to leave a newborn; chief Hogan was present for questions. The department also plans to send donation letters to rural parts of the district.
Road and Bridge staff reported reducing speed limits from 40 to 35 mph on multiple county roads (Bigfoot Road, Blue Springs Road, Bennett Road, Peter Pond Road) and discussed striping requests for Lochsa Road and other safety measures. Commissioners agreed to place related items on the Oct. 20 agenda for potential action.
