Court proclaims Homemakers Week and Breast Cancer Awareness; Danville coaches spotlighted

At its Oct. 14 meeting the Boyle County Fiscal Court recognized local community groups and heard presentations from local athletic leaders.

Judge Executive Pro Tem Tom V. Ellis read a proclamation recognizing the Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association and proclaimed October 2025 as Extension Homemakers Week in Boyle County, noting the association’s volunteer service across the Commonwealth and more than 8,000 volunteer hours from Boyle County members during the 2024–25 outreach year. The court approved the proclamation by voice vote.

The court also read and approved a proclamation recognizing Oct. 25, 2025, as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Boyle County. In remarks introducing the proclamation Judge Ellis described breast cancer as the most common cancer among women and stressed the importance of early detection and community support; Magistrate Bodnar moved the item and the court approved it by voice vote.

In a separate recognition the judge welcomed two local football coaches and a former school-board chair to the meeting. Steve Becker (identified in the record) and the coaches discussed the role of athletics in student development, highlighted recent successes for Danville High School’s program and invited local residents to upcoming home games. Coaches described roster depth, coaching staff roles and efforts to support student-athletes on and off the field.
