Planning commission extends review of Monarch Milk special use permit for one year

The Churchill County Public Works and Planning Commission voted unanimously to extend review of special use permit SUP1102 for one year following an update from applicant Ted Christoff of Monarch Milk.
Ted Christoff told the commission that state approvals for sewer and waterproofing are complete but that meeting USDA, FDA and Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) PMO standards for the plant has involved detailed, time‑consuming review. "It's definitely taking longer than I would like," Christoff said, and estimated "4 to 5 months once the first ounce of dirt is moved."
Staff and commissioners indicated they expect construction to begin once regulatory and design questions are resolved and agreed that another annual review is appropriate. Commissioner Vic Ansar moved to extend the application's review for one year; the motion passed unanimously.
The extension leaves the SUP in active status while the applicant completes federal and state permitting and finalizes construction plans. Christoff said he has a meeting scheduled for October 21 to advance outstanding PMO items and is awaiting contractor detail and approvals before beginning work.
