Goldsboro council approves routine business, veterans parade sponsorship and LPR agreement; resident raises trash pickup concerns

At its Oct. 20 meeting, the Goldsboro City Council handled several routine and community items and heard a public comment about yard debris pickup.
The council unanimously adopted a resolution expressing appreciation for Robin Jones’s service and voted to recognize Tim Collier as Employee of the Quarter for his work building mini fire trucks for a youth fire camp. Mayor Gaylor invited Jones forward to accept the resolution and colleagues offered remarks.
During public comment, resident Earl Artis complained that yard debris and limbs often sit at curbs for “two or three weeks” before pickup. Mister Livingston said the department head responsible for leaf and limb pickup will provide a report at the next council meeting describing the problem and the city’s proposed solution.
New‑business votes included: a $400 in‑kind sponsorship (fee waiver) for the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11 (approved unanimously), approval of farm lease renewals with five‑year terms and a three‑year extension option (unanimous), and a license agreement permitting the Wayne County Sheriff's Office to install license‑plate‑reader cameras on city property near the wastewater plant in exchange for shared data access (unanimous; no payment exchanged).
Council members shared brief community updates and the city manager noted administrative items including recruitment for assistant city manager and a planned website update. The council recessed briefly and adjourned by unanimous motion.
