Superintendent outlines snow-day protocol: first three days traditional, remote learning and meal distribution afterward

In the superintendent's report to the Auburn School Committee on Nov. 5, district leadership outlined the procedures the district will follow when weather threatens operations. The superintendent said the district aims to make decisions as early as possible, and when feasible will decide the day before. "We're sticking with the first three will be traditional snow days that we make up in June on the calendar," the superintendent said, and described that after the first three snow days the district will use remote learning days.
On remote days, the superintendent said meals will be provided: families can sign up online to receive both breakfast and lunch, and the district will send meals home the day before or arrange pickup when decisions are made. The superintendent clarified delay and early dismissal procedures: a delayed start is a two‑hour delay with morning pre-K canceled; for early dismissal the district follows the Wednesday early-release schedule (K–6 dismissed at 1:00 p.m.; grades 7–12 at 12:00 p.m.) and afternoon pre‑K will be canceled.
The superintendent added that notifications will come via the district robocall system, text and email according to family preferences, and will also be posted to local news outlets, radio stations and the district website. "As always, safety is our top priority," the superintendent said.
Committee members had no additional questions at the close of the report. The district staff will continue to communicate timing and meal-signup information to families when weather events occur.
