City manager outlines fire station RFP timeline, pickleball courts bids and water-tower rezoning plan

He said the city met with consultants and three construction firms on preliminary fire station plans; proposals are due Nov. 10 and the city expects to review RFP responses to determine next steps. The manager also said pickleball-court RFP submissions will be opened Nov. 12 and noted community matching funds and local interest in the project.
On the east pressure-zone water tower project, staff completed a plan review and identified easement and zoning issues to resolve with KDOT and then KDHE. The manager said the project is more complicated than a simple pipe project because it involves storage, distribution and pump work; he estimated the overall timeline could push construction into late 2026 pending easement resolution, rezoning and KDHE approval.
The manager also reminded commissioners of upcoming local events and training opportunities for elected officials.
