The Aransas Pass City Council voted to accept a disannexation petition submitted by property owner Jeffrey Olsen and adopted an ordinance formally removing the parcel commonly known as 520 Jacoby Lane (Aransas County property ID 14318; Lot 33, Block 216, Burton and Danforth Subdivision) from the city limits.
City staff explained the parcel’s annexation history, saying it became part of a voluntary annexation in 2019 but later remained after a larger parcel was disannexed through court proceedings. Staff told the council the property did not receive city services and had not been paying city taxes, and that recent ownership changes prompted the petition.
A council motion to accept the petition and a subsequent motion to adopt the ordinance each carried after a motion, second and an affirmative vote. The ordinance includes instructions for filing and correcting the city’s official map and boundaries; the meeting record states the ordinance was adopted with an effective date as declared at the meeting.
Next steps: city staff will file the ordinance and correct official maps to reflect the reduced boundary limits.
