He said Blanchard Energy, under a cooperative purchasing contract, had a unit in stock with installation for $133,754 and was the only vendor able to meet the grant completion deadline. Staff recommended purchase to ensure reliable backup power for the plant.
Alex provided a funding breakdown: the hazard mitigation grant would cover $100,315.50; the sewer utilities budget would cover $33,438.50, for a total cost to the city of $133,754. Council members noted the plant had relied on a portable generator since the outage in 2023 and praised staff for pursuing grant funding. A motion to accept the purchase was made and approved by voice vote.
Staff did not provide a detailed delivery schedule beyond noting the vendor could meet the 11/21/2026 grant completion date. The council did not attach conditions to the approval during the meeting.
