Northampton Housing Partnership approves Nov. 3 minutes and installs Deb Bates as chair

The Northampton Housing Partnership approved the minutes from its Nov. 3, 2025 meeting and elected Deb Bates as its new chair after Chair Gwen Abad announced she had been elected Ward 1 city councilor and could not continue as chair.
At the start of the meeting a member moved to approve the Nov. 3, 2025 minutes; the motion was seconded and the Partnership conducted a roll-call vote with all present voting yes. The chair then introduced the membership and elections agenda item and said she had been elected to the Ward 1 city council and therefore could not remain chair.
Gwen Abad nominated Deb Bates for chair and said, "I would like to nominate Deb myself." Members expressed support and the Partnership recorded affirmative roll-call votes from Richard Abusa, Gordon Shaw, Ben Wood, Gwen Abad and Deb Bates. Members agreed by consensus to install Deb Bates as chair. The Partnership discussed vice-chair nominations (Hannah was nominated in absentia) and agreed to record the nomination in the minutes but to table a formal vote until the January meeting.
Members also noted two open membership positions (the Partnership is intended to include 11 members) and asked participants to recruit candidates. The meeting concluded with holiday well-wishes and an adjournment motion.
