Presenter Miss Maggie Dolan told the council the airport currently uses a residential septic system that is inadequate for additional buildings and that adding more buildings before building a lagoon could violate DEQ policies. She said the grant program’s maximum award is $100,000 and that depending on site location the lagoon project could cost an estimated $1.1 million to $1.9 million.
Dolan described the request as an application authorization only: if awarded, the funds would run through the municipal entity with the economic development organization acting as the public trust beneficiary. Councilors asked whether the grant requires a local match; Dolan said the program maximum is $100,000 and that the remainder of the project cost would need to come from other sources, including possible airport funds or debt service.
The council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by roll call. Miss Fadden, Erwin, Cottom, Feldman, Long, Brocker Hawk and Colby were recorded as voting "yes" on the motion in the transcript record.
