The presenter also said a recent change in Kansas statutes requires charging for records requests at —actual cost—; staff updated the schedule to reflect that guidance and explained that if fulfillment exceeds five hours or $200 in actual wage cost, staff will contact the requester to advise of the fee.
A commissioner asked whether the city would charge for staff time used to gather records; staff replied the statute specifies actual wage (not including benefits) per employee when applicable. The commission moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote.
