Denison recognized as one of first U.S. cities for residential electrical inspector training

Rudy Garza, president and CEO of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, presented the City of Denison with a certificate recognizing the city for training its electrical inspectors.
Garza told the Denison City Council that Denison staff attended a full-day basics-of-residential-electrical-inspection training in Richardson and that the city is “one of the first three cities in the entire country to receive this recognition,” joining Austin and Salina. He said the International Code Council partners with his organization on the program, and emphasized the safety stakes: “Of all the inspections that are done in construction, none is more important to life safety than the electrical inspection.”
The recognition highlights the city’s investment in inspector training; Garza said the program is expanding and that more cities are signing up. Amanda Wozniak, public policy specialist with the association, accompanied Garza. Councilmembers and staff took a photo for social media following the presentation.
The presentation was ceremonial and did not require council action beyond accepting the recognition. The council moved on to other agenda items after thanking the presenters.
