The Augusta City Council on Oct. 20 approved ordinance 22-52, granting a conditional use permit to place a construction administration trailer at 1301 North Ohio to provide temporary, climate-controlled office and restroom facilities for parks/public-works staff while the new public-works facility is built.
Staff explained the existing parks facility has multiple deferred maintenance issues and that a single-wide construction trailer with HVAC and ADA restroom would meet immediate operational needs at a lower cost than renovating the building for long-term use. The planning commission reviewed the proposal on Sept. 24 and voted 4–0 to recommend approval. Staff proposed two conditions: a 30-foot minimum front setback from Ohio Street and a 15-foot minimum street-side setback on the corner lot.
Councilmember (speaker 2) moved to approve the ordinance as recommended by the planning commission with the specified setbacks; the motion was seconded and passed by roll-call vote. Staff said final pricing and placement details will be worked out with the parks division.
