The Augusta City Council on Oct. 20 approved a nuisance-abatement resolution for a camper located at 664 North Santa Fe, ordering removal and abatement within 10 days under Kansas statute KSA 12-1617e.
Tanner Thomas, the city's code enforcement officer, summarized the history: the same camper had previously been located at 670 East Frisco and after a granted extension it moved to the new address. Thomas said he has spoken to the property owner and the camper owner; the owner of the property at 664 indicated he intends to move the camper before the tenth day but staff conveyed the council's intent to proceed with abatement if the camper is not removed.
Council member Brown moved to approve resolution number 2025-26 to determine a nuisance exists at 664 North Santa Fe and to order removal within 10 days as specified in KSA 12-1617e; motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
The resolution authorizes city abatement procedures and assigns responsibility for charging the correct property owner if the city performs removal and disposal. Thomas noted photos and prior inspections were included in the staff packet and that property and camper owners have been informed of the process.
