Consultants opened with a fiduciary refresher on duties of loyalty, prudence, diversification and monitoring, then reviewed the plan’s quarterly and year‑to‑date performance.
"Looking at almost 11%, which is really, really solid," the presenter said when reviewing year‑to‑date performance, noting strong returns from international and emerging markets. The presentation covered macro drivers (GDP, consumer spending, inflation and recent 25 basis‑point interest‑rate cuts) and the portfolio’s diversified allocation across equity, fixed income, real assets and alternatives.
Consultants highlighted that 9 of 14 individual fund managers were above peers year‑to‑date and pointed to standout performers such as Thornburg International Equity and strong returns in fixed income managers (Dodge & Cox, PIMCO). They also noted one new "minor concern" underway with Harrison Street real assets (a rebranding/new ownership) and that Euro Pacific growth had underperformed recently but recovered year‑to‑date.
The consultant recommended continuing the current asset allocation and said the board would receive an updated asset allocation study at the board’s next meeting. Members praised the discussion as informed and thorough and expressed confidence in the board’s fiduciary oversight.
