Dickinson city staff presented and the City Commission approved several personnel items on Nov. 4, including a revised job description for the engineering and community development coordinator (a reclassification from administrative assistant, budgeted as a pay-grade increase from 11 to 12), an engineering technician job description (pay grade change from 12 to 14) and a new GIS technician position (budgeted in 2026 at pay grade 14).
City Engineer Skolacek detailed primary responsibilities for the coordinator (managing building permits, cemetery sales and large data sets) and the technician positions (inspections, North Dakota 1 Call tickets, pavement management, GIS drafting and scripting). Staff told the commission the changes will improve in‑house capacity for inspections, mapping and utility-ticket handling and reduce outsourcing costs. All personnel items were approved by unanimous vote.
