Columbus City Council elects Troy Heimer as council president

Mayor James Bulkley opened nominations for the annual selection of council president and Council President Rich Jablonski nominated ‘‘the gentleman from Ward 2, Troy Heimer’’ for the position. With no further nominations, the council closed nominations and approved Heimer’s election by voice vote.
The election took place as part of the meeting’s required first-December business. Councilmembers moved and seconded the motions to close nominations and to elect Heimer; minutes record the actions as approved by the council.
No amendments to the nominations were introduced during the discussion. The council then proceeded to routine committee appointments and other business for the evening.
