The Cottage Grove City Council voted unanimously to approve Resolution No. 2173, creating a youth representative position on the council and repealing a prior resolution from 2002.
Councilor Lammerman moved to approve the resolution; Chief Chase and Councilor Wilson described plans to recruit through the high‑school leadership program to get the position started and to expand participation to the South Lane School District over time. "My recommendation would be that we get that going through that program and then look to add to it later," Chief Chase said, noting that starting with the high school could help the program launch quickly.
Councilors also discussed staff time and potential council liaisons or volunteer advisers to support the youth representative. The council recorded a unanimous roll call in favor of the resolution.
