Deputy Director Lewis (human resources) said the city is hiring for roles including an animal control officer, master and senior police officers, firefighter paramedics and firefighter EMTs, and directed interested applicants to the city job portal at www.forestparkga.gov (Departments → Human Resources → Job Opportunities).
Program Coordinator Doc Martin outlined recreation events: a Thanksgiving Tailgate on Nov. 23 with a free hot meal and free haircuts at Star Park starting 2 p.m.; a Holiday Extravaganza parade on Dec. 6 beginning about 5 p.m. on Main Street to Star Park; Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 13 at 10 a.m., including photos and pony rides; and a Legacy Holiday event on Dec. 19 at 696 Main Street (registration at the senior center required). Councilwoman Tanisha Dixon also announced a turkey giveaway at Star Park on Nov. 25 at 5 p.m., a free weekly workout series Tuesdays 6–7 p.m. through February (continuation dependent on sponsorship), and a clothing drive at the Council House with jackets and sweaters available 12–2 p.m. tomorrow.
Principal Planner Savon Arons Kumasa said Forest Park was selected for the GIC 2026 cohort, which he described as providing resources for housing and leadership development. He added the planning and community development department is working with the city’s Tyler Technologies permitting system to centralize permitting, business licensing and planning services and plans to produce an educational video series about department services.
