The El Campo City Council on Oct. 13 chose to table proposed revisions to Article 12.03 (parking) and schedule a workshop for more detailed review. Staff presented draft edits aimed at tightening rules for oversized and commercial vehicles, trailers, boats and RVs on residential property and suggested adding definitions (for example, a recreational‑vehicle definition and maximum length thresholds).
Councilmembers raised specific enforcement scenarios — including an 18‑wheeler reportedly parked on 5th Street — and asked whether the draft would address vehicles parked on private property and in corner side yards. Staff said adding maximum length and expanded language to cover trailers would help address those situations, but several members preferred a dedicated workshop to review item‑by‑item rather than enact changes during a regular meeting.
A motion to table the item and schedule a workshop was moved, seconded and passed; staff will notify the council of the workshop date.
