The council approved an award recommendation for Phase 1A of the South Tiger River Greenway Trail (Project 2026005), accepting the project team's recommendation to contract Foothills Contracting Services after five companies submitted bids.
Project staff described Phase 1A as starting at the park's existing parking lot, building approximately 1,000 linear feet of concrete trail with two offshoots toward the lake and then roughly 350 feet of boardwalk. Further phases (1B and later segments) will extend the trail toward the lake and eventually toward the driving range and golf course as part of the master plan.
A project representative told council the Foothills team has prior experience on similar trail work and that Greenville County trail staff recommended them highly. Councilmembers asked for the master plan and clearer phasing and budgeting so the council can align future appropriations. The council approved the award by roll call (recorded as seven 'Yes' votes).
