The Claremore City Council approved a staff recommendation on Feb. 3 to declare certain city equipment surplus and to authorize sale through an online auction service. Fleet manager Mr. Bowen told the council the policy calls for council approval of any asset with value above $12,000 and that the list includes higher‑value sanitation trucks and other fleet items.
Bowen said the city will list the items on a vendor platform (for example, GovDeals) that handles the public auction process and will remit proceeds to the city. He noted that while many retired vehicles have little resale value, the sanitation trucks are desirable and could generate substantial receipts.
Council approved the surplus declaration by roll call during the meeting; staff will proceed with the online auction and subsequent remittance of funds to the city.
