The Hermosa Beach City Council opened a closed session meeting on Dec. 1 and recessed for an executive session after taking public comment.
During roll call the city clerk noted the presence of Council members Francois, Keegan and Jackson and Mayor Pro Tem De Toit; the clerk confirmed a quorum. When De Toit participated remotely the clerk asked, per Assembly Bill 2449, whether anyone age 18 or older was present in the same room with the member; the member answered, “I attest that I am alone.”
After the closed session the city attorney reported to the public that the council had met on the agenda items listed for closed session and that “there are no reportable actions to report.” The presiding official then adjourned the meeting.
What this means: The council did not announce any formal decisions stemming from the closed session during this public meeting. Any personnel negotiations, candidate offers or other actions discussed behind closed doors were not disclosed as reportable actions in the public report given at adjournment.
